Default MIDI Setup/configuration

I have:

mbox 2 pro
Pro tools LE
imac-intel based 1.83Ghz

I want to get my m-audio keystation 49usb configured into my mbox pro and pro tools. The keystation has only one midi out and one USB port (which I have connected to my computer for power). I have the keystation's midi out connected to the mbox's midi in.

I set up an aux track and a midi track and can get a signal through the Mbox and midi track, but hear nothing and cannot record anything. I have been reading up on this (i am new to recording, especially with midi) and am looking for options to set up my keys for pro tools. any help?

Have you installed Xpand!? It should be on the Pro Tools Installation disc.

OK, first things first, is Audio MIDI Setup (AMS) configurated?

Secondly, if your running Pro Tools version 7.0 or higher, create a Stereo Instrument track and insert Xpand!.

The MIDI Output selector will by default assign Xpand MIDI Node 1 Channel 1 and the default Patch will be Shimmer.

Now, record enable the Instrument track and press a key on your Controller (Keyboard). Can you hear this Patch and/or see activity in the Audio Level meter of the Instrument track?
