Can't record MIDI from Slate Trigger

Hi all. I've updated to 2020.5 recently which has been overall working well.

I'm trying to convert real drums to midi using Slate Trigger. I have Trigger on the real drum track with its midi out being recognized by the midi and instrument tracks I'm trying to record midi to, that is, I see by the meters that there is a midi signal present at the midi and instrument tracks. When I record, no midi notes are recorded on either midi or instrument tracks, only an empty clip. I am able to record midi notes to the same midi and instrument tracks using a midi keyboard. Any ideas?
