Bluecat's MB-7
Looking at Blue Cat's MB-7 plugin.
Say I have a single mono file of a band playing live: drums, bass, guitar, vocal, recorded live from the sound console. Will MB-7 take that file and split it into different bands so I can mix the various parts, somewhat independently? Effectively turning it into a multitrack recording? Is there a different technique that will accomplish this any better? Yes I understand the limitations of trying to do this with a single mono file of the whole band, and that it will never be as good as a full multitrack recording. But anything has to be better than nothing, right?

Re: Bluecat's MB-7
Dunno about that plugin but I would certainly look at any M/S EQ/processor if you have a stereo feed from the FOH desk. That said, most FOH mixers will mix predominantly in mono. However, any stereo information will give you more control than a pure mono mix.

Re: Bluecat's MB-7
OP
MB is great at Gain dividing. Dup by 4 (or more) and process many Frequency-Gain Bands. Also useful in surround playback scenes. It is also host for vst>components

Re: Bluecat's MB-7
Right, gain for the frequency
In surround playback settings: Block bands of frequencies per speaker. **Soloed they are incomplete but together they sound correct. L C R Sl Sr= Mid L, Low C, Mid R, High surrounds or many other variations. I mention gain devision as the MB-7 is Gain Rooted in it's setup. Divide by 4 bands (Freq) mute and solo gains as needed. i.e. If I have a recording for a Band and duplicate it 3 times then I can re-ballence and effect seperatly the Low's Mid's and high's. Better than nothing in salvage.

For the second there's no need to duplicate things. You only need one MB7-2 and use multiple frequency bands in that one instance. Again the only thing that might rescue a recording like is being asked about is some type of mid/side processing. |
