ADAT Optical on DIGI 001 Not Working

Hi, I've got a a Dell 8200 series P4 running Pro Tools 5.3 with a DIGI 001 and an Alesis AI-3 for analog to ADAT conversion. The other night I had a session with a full band. We we're getting signal from our mixing board to the AI-3 but were not getting an signal from the AI-3 in PT. I had the AI-3 set as the clock master in PT. We've used this combination several times and it has worked perfectly. We had sound checked the night before and everything worked. Anyone have an idea of what could be going on? Thanks.

Did you set the AI3 to be master aswell? Was the optical connector on the 001 set as ADAT?

Does the AI-3 have an adat input?

I'm currently using a Fostex VC8 and recently did a session with a full band. Had the same thing happen to me. I had clock set to master on the converter and external in pt. no signal though. I ran an adat out from the 001 into the converter to test the cable and suddenly it all worked. Not sure what really fixed it. It didnt really make sense to me but, once I attached the other cable, PT saw the signal and the session ran fine. My guess it has something to do with the Fostex, maybe someone else can elaborate on this?

How do you set the AI-3 to Master? I do have it set to Optical for the clock source instead of internal, if that's what you mean?

And is the optical set to ADAT on the digi001?

Hi, well I've tried everything that you all mentioned and no go. I ran the Digitest on the 001 card to make sure that everything is okay with that and it passed all 7 tests. The only thing I think is that something is wrong with the AI-3 and how it outputs audio through the optical port(I'm not receiving anything into the optical in either). I'm going to call Alesis today and see what the deal is. I really need for this piece to function properly, I've got a lot of full band projects coming up where I need more than 10 inputs going.
