Arrow Intel Replacement for A7N8X-E (AMD) MB?

I really hope someone can help me.

I’ve got a machine built around an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe Motherboard and AMD Athlon XP (2.20 GHz) CPU. I’ve used it successfully with PT 7.3 for a long time.

The problem is that the Athlon processor is incompatible with the PT 8 upgrade I just purchased.

I need to find out what combination of ASUS motherboard and INTEL CPU would qualify as a “direct replacement” for my present MB/CPU. In other words, I need to be able to use the RAM, HD, Graphics Card, Case, Power Supply, etc. that I presently use with the A7N8X-E. It also needs to be 100% SSE Compliant (the Athlon isn’t), and known to work well with PT8.

It doesn’t need to be the latest and greatest, as long as it’s at least as powerful as what I’ve got now. This is an unexpected expense, so I don’t want to spend more than necessary.

ANY suggestions appreciated! Thanks.

If that board uses pre-DDR2 ram and an AGP graphics port, it may be better to just start fresh. Keep in mind that PT8 may use more resources than older versions.

After doing a little more research, I'm starting to think you may be right. Thanks.

Agreed. The old parts will make a handy everyday machine for web surfing and such, and that would allow you to keep the Pro Tools machine off the internet(if you were on it now). I have an AMD 6000+ system that runs PT8 just fine(anybody wanna buy it?), but that's my backup system since going with the i7 system in my signature(which, as of right now, is running Windows 7 64 bit and making me smile, big time).
