Default Quick i/o question

One thing I can't seem to find the answer to is if I could replicate my current I/o setup with HD cards with HDX1. I am tempted to upgrade but only if I can at least achieve what I have already as the minimum requirement.

I have a HD4 system with 2x Lynx Aurora for 32 analogue I/o, 32 AES/EBU I/o and a Digital 192 feeding 16 channels of ADAT to the Behringer Hearback system knockoff. Both Auroras and the Digital 192 are connected to their own primary port.

I understand that with HDX and the firmware update to the Auroras they show up as a single 16x16 I/o so I guess there is no problem with plugging the 2 Aurora's in to the 2 HDX ports for the 32 analogue I/o I currently have. I guess I would lose the 32 AES?EBU I/o but that doesn't bother me as I don't use them anyway.

Could I plug my Digital 192 into one of the expansion ports of one of the Auroras or would I need a HDX2 system just to get more I/o? The cost of HDX2 isn't an option for me at the moment but neither is losing my connection to the headphone monitoring system!

Default Re: Quick i/o question

Each HDX card supports 64-channels of IO, 32 per port. We have an HDX2 system giving us 128-IO from our SSL console via MADI. If you can afford it (although you said you can't), there's a GREAT upgrade from an HD4 (what we had, as well) to HDX2 saving you almost $9000. The power of the HDX2 is equal to an HD6, however, you're able to record up to 512 voices instead of being limited to 192 with HD4.

We bit the bullet and are SO HAPPY we did!!
