Seconded - am currently in a dubb where the mixer would like to view continuous scroll whereas I prefer to edit with page scroll - faffing about changing each time with the mouse is a pain.

Hopefully Digidesign will give us complete keyboard mapping soon.

But until then, you can add your own keyboard shortcuts:

I use them for exactly this reason. I also had Import Session Data and Bounce to Disk shortcuts among others before moving to PT7.

I can't stand editing with page scroll on - many times, I'll be listening to one spot while zooming in for a closer look in another...

So, I keep it off and when I need to catch up to the play head, I hit the down arrow then right arrow in quick succession.

Jim you are a genius - I've set up a pair of shortcuts ctrl~ and alt~ to select page and continuous via the apple shortcuts setup which does the trick...

...and also one for region name toggle on/off!! I'm loving this

thank you!

Hi,

How did you manage to get these commands without there being any key sequence for these functions!!? reading the creating custom key commands info, it seems like a function must have a key sequence to be able to put it in the custom keys!!

No no - click on the David Narabillis link - much more informative than the apple one:

Do the following:

1. Quit Pro-Tools.
2. In system prefs, click keyboard and mouse
3. Click the + (add) button at the bottom of the window
4. In the window that drops down, find your pro-tools app in Application (via other at the bottom of the list because PT is contained within a subfolder in the apps folder)
5. In Menu title - enter the EXACT name of the command, caps and all - for example, for page scroll in PT7.1: simply type: Page
6. For keyboard shortcut, type the shortcut you want (has to be with apple, shift, ctrl or alt.
7. Click add...

open PT and viola - its ace - you'll even see the shortcut that you've selected next to page scroll to remind you what it is.

Where this will not help of course, is if there is a menu command that is exactly the same as another in another menu as you can't specify paths. For example the menu item "assignments" appears in both view > sends A-E and view > sends F-J, so you wouldn't be able to set a shortcut for that (would you want to!?)

Hope this helps

Tony
