Default Automatically Copy Video Files on Import?

Is there a way to automatically copy video files to the session video files directory when importing a video?

Currently I have to import a video, and then go into the workspace and copy it and relink it. You'd think there's a way to automatically copy videos when importing them. The "Automatically Copy Files On Import" setting only seems to work for audio files.

Thanks!

Yeah that would be a nice feature but I don't think there's an option for that. It would be good for archiving purposes, but you'll probably get better performance having audio and video files on separate drives.

Yes, that WOULD be nice! To be sure I have it where I want it, I always copy the vid to the video folder inside the session, and then use the Import Video command and point to that file. I realize that this is putting the vid on the same drive as my audio, but I've never had an issue doing it this way. Putting it on a different drive makes sense, but I do not because session archives get to be a pain ...

Having been stung by the "Automatically Copy Audio Files on Import" option not actually working(despite being checked in prefs), I now drag any files into the master session folder and import from there

I realize you may get better playback of the video on a separate drive but these days it seems everything wants to be on a separate drive. A Pro Tools, the PT Session, the video, and sample libraries all recommend being on a separate drive. At some point it's just not realistic.

You would think Pro Tools wouldn't make you work so hard to avoid leaving a stray file behind.
