Re: 2019 iMac i9 + PT 2018 + Mojave
I had the exact same issue and I’m hoping I may have found the solution. After months of pulling my hair out and getting no effective solution from avid I just reverted back to my old setup. I tried running on a far less powerful i5 2019 imac and had the same issue- albeit less often. I read somewhere on one of these forums to trash the app manager- which I did- and that didn’t fix things. But, I looked and saw avid link. I uninstalled avid link and haven’t been having the cpu errors. This was just last night- so I’m hoping it’s not a fluke. But, may be worth a shot. I had gotten logic, and was priming myself to learn another daw because I couldn’t run a session without massive cpu spikes out of nowhere that stopped the recording. Hope this is a fix, and helps others who may be running into a similar issue. I’m running Pt12.5 but had updated it to 2018 and was getting the same issue btw.

Welcome to the community.
Yes, it always helps if you can reduce the unnecessary processes running while you are on PT.
