Default Help with transferring ADAT tapes to PT - clock issues?

Hi. I'm trying to transfer old ADAT tapes (Alesis 16-bit era) to my PTLE 7.4 system. While trying to do so, I get a lot of clicks - the kind I associate with clock issues (several per second, pretty randomly spaced). I've switched the PT clock from 'internal' to 'optical', tried setting the PT sessions to both 16 and 24-bit as well as 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz, tried similar combos on the ADAT as well. Still getting the clicks.

Am I missing anything? Thanks.

Default Re: Help with transferring ADAT tapes to PT - clock issues?

All you need is to double check everything.
I remember working with PTLE 7.1 on Mac there was somehow no way of syncing PT to incoming lightpipe, while 6.4 did is perfectly both directions. I had to clock ADAT XT from PT - setting PT internal sync and ADAT to EXT (DIG - I don't remember).
Connecting it both ways via lightpipe makes research easier. If your tapes are 48k - better set your sample rate in PT to the same sample rate. Make sure ADAT tapes and heads are clean - sometimes dirty head can make similar artefacts as clock issues.
Clock loop can cause 40700Hz sample rate but this is another story.
