We run a Logic/Pro Tools system here for testing purposes and it works quite well. I also run a system at home and know of several others working with the combination and not having any real problems.

Dat - which Digidesign hardware are you using? If you're using TDM hardware are you using DAE/DTDM or Core Audio to interface with your hardware?

dat - do you possibly have DAE/DTDM and Core Audio simultaneously enabled in 'Audio Hardware and Drivers'? If so, that may be part of the problem. You can only use DAE/DTDM OR Core Audio, but not both.

Also, make sure that the buffer size in Logic and the Core Audio driver are set the same. Sometimes toggling it in Logic will fix intermittent problems.

Interesting mix of answers so far. Is anyone else using giastudio with this combination?
I also need to find the best way to rout audio from the giga pc to my mac. Any information on a
complete wiring scheme would be greatly appreciated. Each company on their own seems
to only know about their own product.
Thanks again-

With Giga, you will typically run a ADAT lightpipe out of whichever audio interface you're using to the ADAT inputs on your Digi interface. You'll also need to run one back to the Giga interface if you want to clock the Giga system to your Digi interface (highly recommended).

The way I sequence is by connecting the MIDI outs of the interface on the Mac to the MIDI ins on the MIDI interface connected to the PC. I then sequence everything in Logic and record the returns coming back into the Digi interface from the Giga system.

One other thing I should mention is that you CAN use Logic instruments with DAE/DTDM - check the Logic TDM Guide or the Logic forums, as I know there that someone there did a great tutorial on getting that setup. I 'll try to locate the link and post it here, but it probably won't be until next week.

Thank you very much! It's all coming together now. I think my only problem
now is that I am using one 192. I don't have enough lightpipe ins. Is there
a suggested unit that would get me where I need to be?

I'd try a used digi adat bridge (from the mix system days) and connect it to the legacy port on the 192. I believe that this would be the cheapest way. I'm not sure about the total channels you can run this way. I think it should be 24 but could be only 16 (16 from the adat bride and 8 from the 192). You could also pick up the digital i/o card for the 192 which I think gives you an additional 8 adat channels. Who knows, having both the adat bridge and the digital i/o card could give you up to 32 channels. I'd check with digi first.
