Pretty much the same here. I think I am just going to trade it in for an M-Audio Axiom 49 Pro. No good having cool faders and knobs and not being able to use them....

.... and on that "note", why only eight faders, when an organ has nine?

Interesting....how did you get the faders to work? I think HK_ENT had a possible fix as well, but not sure. I went into the Vyex program (have to before I go into PT to set it to "External") and I am sure there has to be a way. Interested to see how you did it!!

Well, after a reinstall of Windoze and PT, the MPK 25 is now plug-and-play .... sort of. I saw the "Found New Hardware" jazz a few times, but once you get past that, PT remembers it.

Cautious optimism ....

Weird. LOL Mine is on a completely new build and Windows recognizes it. But thats about it. I refuse to do a re-install of Win and PT in the "hopes" that it may work! HAHA It just doesn't recognize ALL of it (Faders and Knobs!)......

I love the way it feels and it's a damn sturdy board. It's just aggrevating that it can't be used to its full potential. LOL

So, you like the feel of the 49 .... nice! I imagine the keys are the same as the 25. I bought the 25 as a sort of tester, before going for the 88. It feels good to me too, but it's an 88-key controller the I really need.

Is there an MPK88 near where you are located? Have you tried it? Do you have an opinion on the feel of the keys?

Questions galore ....

I've not seen the 88 personally, but the 49 feels awesome. The weighted key are a bonus and I've beat the ever loving mess out of them while applying drum midi tracks. LMAO!

I can't imagine there is a huge difference between the 25 and 88 other than amount of keys! That's why I am kinda bummed about ditching it if I can't get the fader/knobs to work. I went and looked at the Axiom Pro 49, and it just doesn't seem to be constructed as well. But....it is compatable. LOL.

What to do, what to do.........

the mpk88 has hammer action keys (fully weighted) as for the 25, 49, and 61 all have semi weighted keys. AirborneFO i just followed this from the other thread:

3. Use the vyzex program to edit the controller and turn the midi thru on.

4. Before you open pro tools you need to set the controller up with the correct cc messages. All of the cc values are on midi channel 16 (16A on the MPD32). Below i have converted the hex code to the decimal (or cc value) for each control.

mute switches = 0 - 7

Faders = 64 - 71

Bank left/right = 28 - 29
up and down switch = 26 - 27 (needed to control plugins)

Plugin knob controls = 72 - 77 (the up and down switch banks through all the parameters in any plugin)

Transport = Set to MMC

4. Save all these settings in the controller.

5. Download and install the cs-10 template from digidesign (this now works in PT8.0.3)

6. open pro tools and go to the peripherals window and select cs10 as your controller. then set your midi in and midi out. Then to finish the transport setup go to machine control tab and enable slave.
