Keyboard shortcuts (like switching mix/edit windows) stop working

From time to time (more often recently) the usual keyboard shortcuts for switching the Mix and Edit window (and others) stop working mid-session. Probably due to some keyboard shortcut that I hit accidently. The only cure is to close PT and reload it (takes forever...). Any tips?

I trashed the DBs, let's see if it helps...

5 years later and still no solution (trashing the prefs did not help) :-(.
The shortcut for toggling the mix and edit window randomly (as it seems to me) stop working mid-session.
Is there anything that I can have accidently done that disables them?

Would help if you gave us some info on your system (as well as what exact PT version) as without that we can't begin to help.

PT 12.5.2 Vanilla on Windows 7 PC. Core i5-750@4 GHz, 8 GB RAM, standard USB keyboard, nVidia GT 560Ti, M-Audio Profire 2626, 256 GB System-SSD, 1 TB Data/Audio HDD.
This problem exists for me since 2010 now, so from whatever PT version was current back then until now. My system (except for the VGA and the system SSD) has been the same since then, also.
