Question Need DDR3 Motherboard Built in Firewire Whom Have Had Success With

Need Advice With Those Who Have Had Success With a DDR3 Motherboard WITH BUILT IN FIREWIRE

Need it to have 4X240pin ram slots,

Core2 Duo Acceptable - CPU Socket Type LGA 775

FORM FACTOR ATX

CORSAIR DOMINATOR 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) COMPATIBLE


I believe my motherboard is at fault for an unsuccessful pro-tools no one can seem to fix my problem, here is the motherboard i have http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128414

I've forgotton what the exact difference is between a P45 and a P43 chipset but the P43 is a "Binned" part meaning that its a P45 that didn't meet spec and has had some features disabled. I would recommend a board with a P45 chipset first.

Maybe using the "built in firewire" is your problem. Go to guitar center. They have Digi Approved Pyro FW PCI cards for $40. Got mine for $20 on clearance. I'd try that before replacing the motherboard!

no i said built in because im using a digi approved firewire card, i had a digi tech support guy take over my computer and he tried for several hours to get it to work, i tried everything he said and more, he concluded he has never seen a problem like this before and i should prob just get another motherboard.

Sorry if this has been touched upon but, are you sure (in disk allocation) you're never writing to your system drive?

can you link me this firewire card sir? i dont want to chance im buying something similar but not the same. is it this one? http://www.etcetera.co.uk/products/ADS100.shtml

That is the Digidesign approved card- part number API-311 and 64 bit PCI.

FWIW, I use a Belkin F5U503, Digi approved, works a treat and is very cheap.
