mbox users: suggest good front end (mic pre & A/D)
Any body have suggestions for a good mic pre & A/D convertor package?
It would be great if I could also clock to this device with the hopes of improving overall mix clarity (I have been told an improved clocking source can really help protools sound nicer). thanx, tony |

dbx 386 - dual channel mic pre w/ digital outs via spdif + word clock on bnc. Good sounding front end if you want tube (vocals, guitars, what have you), and I think you can get one for under $500.

You should give a price range. Here's another suggestion:

I can spend about $1000.
Have any of tried clocking with something like the mini-me or metric halo ULN-2? Have you gotten better sounding mixes? Did you notice a considerable improvement in sound quality of the a/d conversion? thanx, tony |
