Default Move clip start to playtime shortcut Y

A thousand times "argh" over the course of a years editing. In Gods name why next door to the zoom out key??? Please remove this particular short cut from the Y key or at least add 20 modifier keys to the process so that it doesn't happen again in my session?

yes, 100% agree with this, modifier or option to turn this off please, I do it by accident far too often, never use it intentionally

Haha.. yeah, this has annoyed me for years..... followed by the necessity of a quick 'z'.
Aargh, yes totally agree that this is really misplaced and to be honest, I don't know why it's even needed.

While we're at it.
The dreaded 'N' right above the space bar.
Happens at least a couple times per session and I SWEAR that I didn't actually hit the dang thing.

The purpose of this key is not to move a clip to the start of the session, but to move it to incoming external TC. That was important when we were working with external video from VCRs and VITC (if these abbreviations still mean anything to someone ).

There are a couple more keys to work with external TC: U I = all these could go and be replaced for more useful applications. My suggestion would be "Move to Next/Previous Clip Boundary".

It's really amazing that Avid is holding to functions for such an outdated workflow instead of making their product better. It would be so easy to replace, they could even sell some stickers for your PT keyboard

For the meantime, you can put a very short locked group at the very beginning of your session across all tracks. This will result in a dialogue box when hitting Y with a clip selected.
