Akai mpk49, Axiom 49 & PT 8.0.1
I'm looking to purchase one of these controllers. I'm leaning toward the Akai primarily because of the ergonomics... it seems the things you use the most, the pads, transport, etc. are centrally located on the keyboard. Buttons, faders knobs feel more precise/robust too.
In researching these two, I've come across a couple threads on mapping issues... here & here. Can someone explain to me what the CS10 Legacy files thing is they are talking about? I'd really like the Akai over the Axiom, but would like to know if I can map it so all the bells & whistles it offers work with PTLE 8.0.1 Thanks for any help on this.

Re: Akai mpk49, Axiom 49 & PT 8.0.1
I've been waiting for the Akai LPK25 because it doesn't take much real estate in my desk.
I know someone with the Axiom and it works out-of-the-box with Reason, but it needs to be configured for Logic, therefore it must not be configured for Pro Tools as well...

Re: Akai mpk49, Axiom 49 & PT 8.0.1
Hmmm... found this link comparing the Axiom and the Novation SL MK2. Now looking at the Novation which seems to map nicely with PT8 as does the Axiom.
My research on the Akai mpk49 tends to be all negative with regards to mapping with PT8.

Found the right combination of search keywords for this topic on the DUC. I see this has already been covered quite a bit. Never mind...

Hi,
you can find some tips about mapping the mpk49, in the search field here, typing simply "mpk49", I've posted things that work for me, even if it's not perfect, the name of the post is " Pro Tools 8 and AKAI MPK 49 keyboard Controller" hope it helps |

Re: Akai mpk49, Axiom 49 & PT 8.0.1
I've just purchase the Axiom Pro 61 and its superb in the way it works with PT8, so thats my recommendation (bearing in mind its the Axiom Pro not plan Axiom)
