How do you keep it highlighted? +Stop
Example;
I am trying to find a loop. So I am playing the track in loop mode, as it is cycling around I adjust the bounds using the shift drag method, then when I get the loop perfect and all sounds are good, if I hit stop the selection highlight goes away. Do I have something set up wrong in my prefs? I can drop a marker that remembers the region but that is a hassle because I must first set the prefs to drop markers on the fly and if it is not set up beforehand, I have to hit stop to set the pref thus losing my highlight. So give me the tip You Protools Freaks. |

Disable "Timeline follows edit/insertion" or something like that...located in Preferences -> Operations. Or, you can click that doo-hicky button beside the "Tab To Transient" one.

once you get the loop "perfect", try doing a trim (apple + T) before stoping.

it sounds like you have your operations pref set to "insertion follows playback" just hit the N key and it will togle. Easy to hit this by mistake.

Re: How do you keep it highlighted? +Stop
Another good one is if you want to work on, say, a 1 bar loop and cut and paste and move stuff within in and not have it go to the cursur when you stop...try this.
Select the bar you want to loop...click "Command" "/". It will loop that bar no matter what you do. When you don't want it to do that anymore..hit the above command again. Check it out. It's great when your using Autotune and you don't want to lose your start and end point. It is also great for drum loops or anything else that requires exact repetition. |
