Default Setting Up ProFire 2626 As Stand-Alone Mic Pre-amp

I recently bought a ProFire 2626 to use as a stand-alone pre-amp with my Digi003. I'm trying to connect it to my 003 via the Optical inputs, however I'm having a hard time getting my computer to recognize the ProFire through my 003. I downloaded the newest drivers for the ProFire, so it shouldn't have something to do with that. I'm convinced that I have to configure my 003 somehow to recognize the ProFire 2626. If anyone has any experience with hooking up stand-alone mic pres to their interfaces, please let me know. Thanks a lot.

Did you properly setup the 2626 for stand alone use? If so, have you setup your 003 for external sync? I'm not really familiar with either product, but you may have to set your 003 for external sync before it will receive input from the 2626.

Ok, so I haven't really tested this too much with my 2626 because it's my main interface, but I do know that it doesn't matter what drivers you have for the 2626 in standalone mode because you're not connected to the computer. M-Audio says to be in standalone mode, turn off your interface, disconnect any firewire cable(s), turn on your interface and you are now officially in standalone mode. The 2626 will route mic-pre's 1-8 to its corresponding output (i.e. analog in 1 --> analog and ADAT 1, analog in 2 --> analog and ADAT 2, and so on). It's designed so that you don't have to route your signal via a computer every time you want to use it as a standalone pre-amp. This is my understanding but I could be wrong. And, I'm also not too familiar with the 003 but you might need to activate ADAT inputs. I hope any of this helps.
