Unhappy Crash Report - What's Going On Here?

I've been having all kinds of trouble with a Pro Tools session. When I try to play back, I get an "Access Violation" error message and sometimes this message: Assertion in
"\code\azuki_Cliff\AlturaPorts\PT4_App\Mdie\Mdie_T rackPlayeLine518"

Then, I got this error: "a fatal exception has occurred. Pro Tools must exit. A log file has been written to: C:\Program Files\Digidesign\Pro Tools\Pro Tools Utilities\ExceptionLogFiles\Log-128911059513590000"

Then, I got a message about an error regarding the Pro Tools M-Powered.exe file and a notice that a crash report had been filed.

Below is my Sandra info and attached is a copy of the crash report. I appreciate any suggestions that you have for this.

FYI...I've reinstalled Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3.1cs 7, checked for the latest updates and drivers, and followed the steps in the "compatibility" section of the Digi site.

We're going to need a bit more info to help you - you didn't list which Digidesign/M-Audio hardware you're using. I'd also like to see a list of installed plug-ins, as incompatible ones can cause issues like this.

Please see the Help Us Help You and General Troubleshooting threads for details about what we need to know as well as a utility to generate a plug-in version list.

Another question - one of your drives is labelled 'plug-ins'. Are you installing plug-ins to a drive other than your main OS drive? Or is that drive only for plug-in content?

I'm using an M-Audio Firewire 1814. The plug-ins that I have installed are Structure, Ethno Instrument, BFD, and Xpand.

Yes, the drive labeled "Plug-ins" is dedicated for audio files (e.g., drum loops, sample sounds, etc.) for my plug-in programs. This is a separate drive from my main OS drive (C: drive), and it is used only for plug-in content.

Please let me know what your recommendations are. These problems are preventing me from recording anything. Thanks!

This is a likely issue... a dodgy plug-in.

Over the past 1.5 years, I haven't had any issues like this with any of my plug-ins. What do you suggest?

Update all of your plugins to their current versions.

Post a version list using the Tech support utility (mentioned in the general troubleshooting thread) and we can make more precise suggestions.

Have you tried trashing the Digidesign databases and preferences?

Just to back up a little, are we to understand that this is just one session that you are having this problem with?

Agreed; can you check to make sure none of the files in the problem session are compressed? This can be another common cause of access violation errors, especially when the errors are session specific.

Do you know which of the plugins are in the problem session?

There is something very strange about that.
