Re: Pro tools 12.5 is here!
If you get updates for a year and you started your plan in Sept 2015, you get updates until Sept 2016. Since 12.5 came out before Sept 2016, you get it. You also get future revisions the come out before your plan expires.

Re: Pro tools 12.5 is here!
I guess I'm a little confused about 12.5. Based on Avid's promotion of 3 extra months of updates, my updates subscription ran out yesterday, 3/31/16. However, 12.5 was released before 3/31.
So, shouldn't I see 12.5 in my update list, even though the subscription ran out of today? Also, how is Avid going to handle bug fixes? I believe the subscription was for capability updates but bug fixes would still be provided, even without a subscription? Andy |

Re: Pro tools 12.5 is here!
Turns out 12.5 was in my account but the Application Manager wasn't showing it. I know better than to trust the Application Manager and should have checked the account earlier. Bad me!

Re: Pro tools 12.5 is here!
Hi Tom,
I ending up uninstalling, cleaning everything including, the registry and plugin cache and reinstalling 12.5. It seems to be running better now. I had initially installed over 12.4 without doing any housework. I'm finding in general I'm running out of resources much more quickly, in other words it seems like there's much less headroom in the AAE. Projects that would run smoothly under 12.4, now stop with overloads AAE-9173 error. I also had a session with 4 audio tracks at 24/48 khz, no plugins stop while recording with the same error. Other than that, I'm still having an issue with tracking freezing throwing things out of alignment. That may involve a call to support with some supporting info. I had the exact same problem with 12.4 as with 12.5. I'm also having problems with iLok validation on a couple of Sonnox and SSL Duende plugins, but that's a hold over from 12.4 as well. AAE-6 errors here and there which seem to go away when I delete the wavecache files for the project and from the Pro Tools folder as well. Running Windows 7 sp1, ASUS Z97-A w/Intel i7-4790K 32mb RAM. Update: It seems I'm not the only one with similar problems. http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=379480 Update2: Did a small recording session with 12.5 today, lost about a half hour of a four hour session to Pro Tools acting up. Mostly 9173 errors. I reinstalled 12.4. Last edited by biasrocks; 04-04-2016 at 02:33 PM. |

Re: Pro tools 12.5 is here!
Would this work on Windows? What about, say, installing Pro Tools | First alongside Pro Tools 12.5, by renaming the application as described above ?

Re: Pro tools 12.5 is here!
So... I own two versions of Pro Tools. One his HD, the other is Vanilla. The Vanilla expired on Feb. 17. It's really $299 to renew for a year? That seems like a lot. I hope this plan works out for them better than it works for me. That seems like too much money for software that's not even working very well from what I've been reading on this forum. The HD one expires in December of this year. I don't see the value in renewing unless this mess is working.

Re: Pro tools 12.5 is here!
I installed this weekend (4/9/2016) and it would not recognize my Mbox mini, said "Pro Tools hardware is not installed or in use" but I restarted PT while holding down the "N" key and selected my Mbox in the dropdown and it's working great so far. (BTW I'm using Windows 10 pro) A BIG THANKS to the posters on here who suggested the "N" key!
But I'm only a hobbyist though- doing mostly guitar and vocals through mics and direct in to my Mbox, bass lines and drums from Xpand. Pretty simple and I don't have any 128 track songs! ALWAYS make sure you have a path to revert before upgrading or changing ANYTHING! We'll see as I use it more- just got a Yamaha MM8 and I'm gonna start using it for drums and basses too. My bro in San Diego is pretty pro and he refuses to use any computer based recording says it's always too glitchy and inconsistent, he uses a Tascam DP32SD and loves it. I like having a monitor and mouse though since I've been using and programming computers since 1984.
