For 7.1 work we use

Room 1:
Adam A7x
Adam Sub10

Room 2:
Dynaudio BM6A MKIII
Adam Sub10

(not a fan of dynaudio subs)

Have also used Meyer HD1's and would choose them every time if budget permits.

I really like the 8020s, but not the 8030s. The 8040s are great and the 8050s even better. The 8030s seem more sharp and a bit honky to me which is very strange considering the rest of the series is so very useful.
There's also digital versions of them available with DSP room correction which is great for delaying the system and making small finetuning.

Strongly considering replacing my front array of Blue Sky SAT 6.5's. I was pretty well set on JBL LSR 6328P's, but now I'm not so sure, especially given the lower cost of the Dynaudios. Wondering which set might serve best for both stereo music mixes and 5.1 work. Very subjective, I know, but if anybody has experience with both monitors and/or has an opinion on multi-function monitoring, I'm listening...
I recently changed to JBL LSR6328p's as my LCR and the translation to cinema's is greatly improved over my previous Genelec 8050's.

The 8050's seemed over bright and have an unreal bass extension for most real world Theatrical playback. They did sound great though and I miss them sometimes, but for what I do, the JBL's are better.

I haven't used Dynaudios, I just based my decision on most Cinema installations being JBL.

Good to know. I've mixed a few times at a studio with 8050's, and must say I really love them. Stereo music mixing only, though. I am still leaning toward the JBL's.

Check the spec sheets, I remember that the Genelecs have different crossover freqs. With a 7060 sub, I have found little to no difference between 8040 and 8050. Even though 8050 has larger tweeter (and it almost looks like they initially wanted to use same tweeter in 8050 and 8040)
