MIDI Step Input on PTMP 7

Hey all,

Finally gotten all my plumbing worked out and am running PTMP 7, BFD, and various other pieces of gear with success... silly question though:

I have done BFD tracks in several different ways via the RTAS plugin... Groups, All, real time recording of single-note Groove kickoffs, dragging and dropping of Grooves into a MIDI track, etc. THe one thing I can't seem to figure out is Step Input recording. THis would be really handy for just step-by-step input if the Groove triggers, but when I follow the instructions, the Groove trigger note I try to play on my kb (Bb3 in this case) in whole note/90% length mode in the Step Input window just flashes blue where I would expect the MIDI note to be, and then disappears. It's almost like a "preview" or something... like "If PT had decided to accept your input, that's exactly where it would have gone". However, after I play the note I'm trying to Step Input, it just flashes on the MIDI track, in the proper location and in proper duration, but then disappears.

What am I doing wrong?

Are you able to use the Step Input option with another plug-in (Destination: newly created Instrument track)?

I will try this tonight and post my results, thanks for the suggestion! I hadn't thought to try another MIDI input, BFD is the only MIDI I'm using at the moment...
