That seems to be the default reply for any PT issues:) Every once in a while it is a plugin causing a problem, but I can't tell you how many times I've pulled all the plugins out of my plug-in folder over the last few years, and they had nothing to do with the problem. I'm also glad these issues are finally getting more attention. I hate it's happening to so many people, but maybe they will finally get it fixed. But, even though I've paid for the 12HD upgrade and am on the support plan, I totally think they should fix this in 11 as well. Also, maybe it's time for some new beta testers?????? How does this crap keep making it through?????

Just to say been contacted by Avid (only through my forum comments) about this - unfortunately just left my (uk) studio for a couple of days so not with the session now for required info, but looks like they are taking active interest in this thread, so the more tech info you can share the better...

Concerning the noise blasts in 11 and 12.
Since it occurs in both versions, it may be six of one, half a dozen of the other.

I do take the noise blast bug as extremely serious.
I don't want to be in the middle of a vocal and get my ears torn off!

Is it primarily in OSX or both platforms; native or HD?
What about an issue with the way Protools deals with CoreAudio?

Could it even be more fundamental than that, and that's why it's been around for so long?

Just wan't to say that I have the same problem.
When I did a stop and play really fast the BIG NOISE appear.
Ver. PT 12.0
PC I7 win 7 64bit
Soundcard RME UFX

Just curious -

Once upon a time there was a similar problem that was automation related, where it would blast on start.

At the time I found that turning preroll on and setting it to 1 or 2 frames was a temporary workaround. It may have to be more than that, depending on the amount of delay comp used in the session.

Can any of you try this out and post your results?

Just a shot in the dark.

Since I just upgraded to PT10/11/12 from PT9, I've been checking things out with an 8 year old test machine.

I have two identical hard drives and physically switch back and forth between them. The difference being one has 11.3.2 only; the other 10.3.10 and 12.3.1.

Using ASIO4ALL, I loaded up the same sessions (just audio, a few plugs, no automation) in each drive, and tried to get the system to squeal... that doesn't sound quite right, but you know what I mean.

I couldn't get it to happen, so only occurs when certain conditions are present.

You're saying always have preroll armed 1 or 2 frames... give the system a chance to breath?

I know but I just wanna tell you that I'm in the same boat.
I will go for 12.3.1 and hope I't will be gone. but what I read i't isn't.
If 10.000 shout it will be louder than 10. And the Avid must hear.

I haven't had a white noise blast since 12.3.1, but I have had a reverb blast, although it's only happened once so far.
