I love Structure. For starters, the interface wasn’t designed by the folks at NI, which is a major plus. (Those cats must have eyes the size of basket balls.) Most importantly, it’s stable and dependable within PT and the workflow integration features are downright sexy.

Last but not least, there are no stupid hoops to jump through when authorizing Structure — like PT it relies on the iLok.

For some more in-depth opinions and discussions, check the Virtual Instruments section of the DUC.

IHTH.

Hi
I have Structure On A PTHD3. The structure sofware is very stable the Goliath Sample sounds great (but not cheap). I have never being able to make even one EXS24 sample work with structure. I received no help from Digidesign or help from anybody. Since the last 10 years I work with DAW Now Full time, I also work As a software engineeer for 20 years. I am saying this to let you know that before I say that a bug exist, I did every possible thing to make it work. Structure and EXs24 file dont work in my computer. And I have never seen or heard someone who successfully run exs24 file with structure. So I gave up. And wrote this as a lost.
Note that this is not a complain, Digidesign Advertized That EXS24 files works wit Structure, And maybe they are correct but
Not in my experience. The only complain I could formulate would be to say that their Hepl departement is rather absent. But I would'nt do that.
Cheers
Eric D

EXS24 files work reasonably well in Structure, but often you have to go into the ADSR and raise the Sustain level as it appears at zero, giving just a short click instead of the sample. And sometimes Glide (portamento) is on when it shouldn't be.

As a former EXS24 user, I love Structure but...

If the filter is switched off in the EXS24 sampler and the settings are saved to the instrument file (in Logic) or if there are no settings saved with the instrument, when you load the instrument into Structure some of the sampler settings will be wrongly interpreted.

The usual result of this (as has been pointed out) is that the sustain portion of the amp ADSR will be zero- although other strange results occur, depending on the original settings in the EXS24. What seems to be happening is that when the filter is switched off in the EXS24 patch, other values get assigned to the wrong parameters- the decay value in the EXS24 becomes the sustain value in Structure, for example.

Considering the huge number of patches available for the EXS24 and the claim by Digidesign that Structure provides access to these, some work on the accuracy of the import might be in order. Having Structure assign some useable envelope parameters when no settings exist in the EXS24 patch or when the filter is turned off would be a good start- it would at least allow the patch to be heard!

Structure Free seems to do a better job in this regard, the sustain is raised above zero for EXS24 patches with no sampler settings. Unfortunately, when the filter is off (as it is in the default EXS24 settings), it misbehaves like its expensive sibling.

Not here - I get "tick" envelope settings no matter what. It's extremely easy to adjust the envelope, but it certainly would be nice if the conversion worked better. Once they get that working, I'm in.
