You can do this with a month to month pro tools subscription.

I guess I didn't see that when I surrendered my vanilla perpetual license. I've been stuck on the yearly and missed the cancellation/renewal notice last July and got stuck for another year. I just checked this morning and there's no way to cancel.

I know that but you missed the point I was trying to make - PT2020.12 is NOT in one's Avid account and that's the only source that matters.

I feel awkward toward this as a moderater but I also need to have my own opinion so I will say this and *hope* Avid listen to all of us and reconsider .... Miracles do happen ...
And you believe in fairy tales too ?

But seriously, Avid is run by bean counters and that decision was definitely made by someone showing an excel sheet with a lot of numbers and graphs demonstrating that it is important for the financial survival of AVID or Pro Tools (or both). The opinion of the user is at that point not relevant ... don't shoot the messenger.

I just renewed my Ultimate support plan. I looked in to the subscription options, but, $399 vs $799 for a years subscription. $960 a year if you go monthly...why would any existing user willingly move over to a subscription? Obviously, you have no other choice if you let your plan expire, which I find appalling. I just hope they don't do away with the perpetual license all together. That would definitely be the last straw for me.

I prefer perpetual myself, but if you only use Pro Tools in spurts, not daily, it could make sense. If you only do a couple PT projects a year for example.

I guess, AVID just answered the question of this thread.

Pro Tools v2020.12 was released this morning.

Installing now...after installation, I stated Protools 2020.12.0 and saw an auto-sync for iLok...scanning all plugins...load an old session and playback, Ok...load a few plugins and VI's. All seems to work.

It kept my preferred classic mode instead of reverting to dark mode (good).
