No input from 003 rack to Pro Tools 9

I just installed Pro Tools 9 on my Macbook Pro and am trying to get set up to record. I have the Digidesign 003 rack and just updated the drivers and firmware on that last night. Everything seems to be connected ok but I'm not getting an input of any kind. I did a test with the click track and can hear that as an output.
I plugged a Shure SM58 mic into the input 1 XLR on the back of the rack. Turned up the volume for input 1 on the front and get nothing. I don't see any reading in Pro Tools either. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure that:
1. 003 is set as your playback engine (Setup>Playback Engine)
2. 003 Inputs and outputs are setup the right way (Setup>I/O, press "Default" to list 003 inputs correctly)
3. You have created a mono audio track with "Analog 1" input selected, and record enabled this track (red record button flashes).

Ok great will check those things! I believe they were that way last night when I was looking at the setup. But I'll check again. Are there 2 ways to power up the Digidesign 003 rack? I know there is a power button right on the front. I'm just wondering if maybe I need to fully power it up using another switch so that I can use the phantom power for mics etc.
