Default 2020.5 - Invalid Fades Destroys Two Sessions

Thank goodness for backups. Today I have received this error twice, which has resulted in approximately 90% of audio clips disappearing from the session. Approximately 1000 fades flagged as invalid.

Any idea what might be causing it? I've tried importing session data to a new session, but the result is exactly the same. Likewise, I have tried opening the session in 2020.3 and 2019.12. It makes no difference. Seems like something was corrupted in the session file itself.

We saw this on a mix a few months ago running 2019.6. I noticed in the session backups that right at 12pm the ptx file size suddenly dropped to about 1/4 of what it was minutes before. All backups corrupt too.

Any chance you were using lots of region groups in the session? I have a feeling that had something to do with it in our session...

This seems to be the same issue as http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=405902

Please report to Avid. It's a long running bug and still seems to persist.

Are you using iZotope RX7 Connect by any chance?

Interesting!

Yes, I would've had a few region groups in the session. It would have happened shortly after I region grouped half the session to re-sync it with some altered vision. The problem also definitely cropped up sometime shortly after midday! Maybe 12:45pm or so.
