Default Mbox2 mini, PT8: Always hear the input

I've got a Mbox 2 since yesterday and it seems like a mystery. I've used a M-Audio fast track usb before. This interface was pretty straight forward. Plug in the guitar, start garageband, activate the input and I was ready to jam.

With the Mbox, as soon as I plug in the guitar, I hear my guitar. On the fast-track, i didnt hear anything until I activated the line in (in garageband for example). Also, when i'm garageband now, i hear the guitar clean as in line-in sound, and distorted as in garageband + amplitube. So i hear my guitar double.

Now, on protools, I hear the guitar as if i didnt start protools (its the same). When loading Amplitube, i hear the effects far in the background and very very quiet. What am I doing wrong?

I'm totally new to ProTools so i'm probably doing something very stupid...

Could it be the "Mix" dial on the Mbox2 Mini? That will alter how much of what signal you hear, at least in PT.

Perfect, I hear amplitube now. Used the mix, turned down all volume on input 1. Everything is almost working perfectly except for the fact that i still hear the clean input all the time. So now i hear my distorted guitar when playing, but also the clean. The clean doesnt get recorded, but its very anoying to hear both...

I think you might have "input only monitoring" checked off in the preferences section of the setup menu. Or it might not be checked...forget which does which sometimes.

Thanks, but I cant seem to find that setting. Do you mean in Pro tools? I've looked on "Setup" -> "Preferences". Isnt there a setup tool for the Mbox itself? :)

I really would love that when I plug in a input, the Mbox not automaticly starts monitoring without any recording program active...
