Eleven Rack Expansion Pack not Activating

About an hour ago I purchased the ERXP from the Avid store. Got my serial number and system code via email. Downloaded the installer from my account and ran the installer (after extract all of course). Install went fine. It put the activation program folder on my desktop and I ran the activation app. Entered my info and clicked activate and it crashed (a windows crash) saying the program had stopped and gave me 2 options, check online for a solution and close the program, and close the program.

I trashed the new folder, restarted windows and after restart I ran the installer again. It again put the activate folder on the desktop and I ran the activate app again but this time it crashed right off the bat with the same message as above.

I am posting this from my iPad so Sandra is not on here. My system is:
Windows 7 64 16GB RAM with a core i7 intel processor 3.4Ghz. My 11R is connected and works great with PT 10.3.8.

This is the first time I have ever purchased from the Avid store. I bought my 11R from Musicians Friend about a year ago. The reason I wanted the ERXP was for the new amps and cool toys. I got a free ACS in my email. Should I just call Avid to find out what's up? Does anyone know the hours of operation?

Are you using Internet explorer 10?

Thanks for the reply. I am running IE 10 but I am right now getting ready to eat some CROW!!!

Being a little gun shy of PT since I started using it last year I assumed that when it crashed after running the updater that it had not worked. Soooo, just for grins I went back into the studio and scrolled to the firmware display page on my 11R and low and behold it said 2.0.1 !!! Apparently it worked just didn't finish normally. I went to some of my rigs and checked to see if the new amps/cabs/effects were there and they all showed up fine.

I haven't tried it in PT yet. I'll give that a try later today. After my lunch of CROW I'm setting up for a session with just some MIDI stuff. My next guitar session is later this evening.

Now to wait for the stand alone editor to be released and see how badly I can screw that up !!!

So just to be clear, you ARE up and running fine with the ERXP (Firmware 2.x)

Hi Brian,

As far as the actual 11R hardware unit is concerned, yes, all is good to go. I really like having some extra amps to futz around with.

After this MIDI client is done I'm going to open a new session to test it in PT 10.3.8. If there is a problem I'll post back with a Sandra report to see if you guys can help out. Plus I'll post any errors specific to PT as well.

It's kinda interesting as to think as I'm writing this that before I bought the 11R with PT 10 included I was a firm believer that PT was beyond my skill level. I'd been running Cakewalk since the mid 90's and had followed the upgrade path all the way through to X2. Now that I'm using PT it just seems so much easier to get things done in the studio. Faster to set up sessions, better audio quality, intuitive interface and mixing platform. It makes Sonar almost seem "toy" like in comparison.

Yes, I'm a fan. But I guess I've been lucky too to have not had any bad errors causing me any down time either. That's probably related to the fact that I bought a purpose built PC just for the studio and don't try and run any day to day stuff on it (it's only hooked to the inter webs when I need to download updates). Plus I followed ALL the optimizations to the letter to make sure it would be able to run problem free. Add to the fact that I did my homework before starting its use like so many folks appear not to do (been reading a lot of the posts on here) and then find it so difficult to follow the instructions given by you guys, well, it just makes me mad that they take up your time.

Sorry for the long post/rant. Just needed to get that off my chest. I'm thankful for this resource and the incredible folks that are here to help!
