Where do i purchase pro tools 9?

Hi everyone. I have been using PT 8.05 Le on an Apple iMac, OSX Version 10.5.8, Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core Duo, 4GB Ram for some time considerable time now and wish to upgrade to PT 9. I am using 11R as my interface.

I have tried to find the upgrade on Avid's site but am directed every time to PT 10 which i can't purchase until i have loaded PT9.

I have the required ilok and am ready to go but simply can't find the PT 9 download on Avid's site.

Can anyone direct me to the required point on the site for purchase or does anyone know of any good deals on the internet for PT 9. Can you purchase PT 9 with a free upgrade to PT 10?

Any help would be great appreciated fella's.

Who told you that?

If you want 10, buy 10. There's no need to buy 9 first.

Also, neither 9 nor 10 are qualified to run on 10.5.8. You will need to upgrade your OS to at least 10.6.3 (10.6.8 recommended).

Hi and thanks very much for coming back to me.

Are you sure i don't need to upgrade to PT 9 first? Have seen it advertised if you want PT 10 you must have PT 9 already installed.

If this is correct that i can automatically upgrade to ten from PT 8.05 (i have the ilok2) then is there any good deals out there you can recommend. I have seen PT 9 advertised on Ebay with a free upgrade to 10? Would that be the way to go?

Do Avid still sell PT 9 as i can't excess it on their site unless in a package deal with an interface?

Thanks also for the advice on updating my iMac which i will do now.


Any extra help would be much appreciated as i am more than a little confused at the moment and don't want to make a mistake in my PT upgrade purchase!

I don't know where you've seen it advertised, but it is incorrect.

Pro Tools 10 is its own software that requires no previous installation.

The cheapest option to upgrade to 10 is the "LE to 10" upgrade.

This requires that you enter the serial number of your hardware interface (the 002/002, Mbox 2, etc.) and it's $399.

You can get it directly from the Avid Store here:

Do Avid not sell PT 9 anymore as i would like to know what the difference in price is between PT 9 and PT 10. Many thanks in advance again.
