Default Vienna key & iLok on hub?

I know it's generally not a good thing to run an iLok on a hub, or is that just on an unpowered USB hub? The reason I ask is I'm considering getting VE Pro 5 and that uses it's own dongle variant. However I've run out of USB ports on my iMac and would have to go to a hub. Said hub would more likely than not have both dongles on it. Would be a powered hub.

I figured I'd ask here because there's a bunch here who run VE Pro alongside PT and have to deal with this situation. Am I looking at problems or what? This is on ML on a 27" iMac 3.4 GHz i7 setup with 11R as audio interface and PT 10.3.2.

I've almost always used iLoks through hubs. As long as they are powered, there's no drama. I type this from a Mac keyboard which has 2 iLoks plugged into it.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I have had 2 iloks and a vienna key hanging from a hub that's on a 15' extension cable for well over a year with no issues. There is nothing else plugged into the hub of course.

Dan:
Are your powered by an external supply or the USB port? I can go either way on that, although a port powered hub would be great.

I've done both without issues. The keyboard is powered only via USB, but before that they were always in a powered hub. Never once had an issue, iLok1 and iLok2.

Thanks - much appreciated. I've run hubs before but not in something mission critical like recording; previous daws and vi's didn't require dongles.

I've had the same good experience as Dism, I've run Iloks both off the wired keyboard ports and off hubs with no problems.

I use VePro 5 and Pro tools, both dongles on a Powered hub and never had a problem.

I have my iLok, my Steinberg/Arturia key, and my Novation controller in a powered USB hub. No issues whatsoever.
