Default MTRX Studio with Lynx Aurora 16 LTHD

Hi guys

I'm wondering if anyone out there has had any luck pairing a Lynx Aurora with the new MTRX Studio? Specifically running the Lynx as the slave to the MTRX Studio.
I'm not having any luck and have had Avid support and Lynx trying to help me but no results...

MTRX Studio interface
Lynx Aurora 16 LT-HD
Windows 10 Pro
Intel i9 10940X
Protools 2020.5

The Lynx is connected using a Digilink to Digilink mini adapter.

I've tried connecting it in 2 different configurations:

Lynx -> MTRX Studio (Digilink Port 2) -> HDX Card
THe DADman software doesnt seem to recognise the Lynx is connected on Port 2?

Lynx -> HDX Card Port 2 (MTRX Studio -> HDX Card Port 1)
Protools sees the Lynx in Hardware and IO, calls it 'HD IO #1', defaulting IO seems to assign it all fine, but no audio coming into Protools?

Have connected BNC cables from MTRX Studio Loop Sync and also tried Word Clock, in and out. Lynx set to EXT. However I should be getting audio even if there was a clock sync issue right?

Have trashed prefs a few times.

Any help would be much appreciated! Driving me nuts!

I haven't tried this but I do have a Rosetta 800 that I am attaching to an MTRX (not MTRX Studio).
I'll do so via AES rather than attaching the Rosetta to a mini digilink port on the HDX cards.

Would you expect DADMan to see the Aurora?

I guess this is an earlier Aurora that you cannot put a Dante card in, right?

We've never tried it with a Lynx, so can't promise it will work. But here's a suggestion: when you tried the above config, did you set the Digilink mode on the MTRX Studio to Pri/Exp (Primary/Expansion)?

e, but no audio coming into Protools?!
Was Port 2 set up as an expansion port?

And as asked already. Why would DADman “see“ the Lynx? DADman relies on Ethernet and the box supporting DAD’s proprietary DADman protocol... neither of which a Lynx supports.

Thanks very much for the responses everyone.

So, you were right I hadn't set the Digilink setting to Pri/Exp. When I changed this, it looked promising - HD IO #1 appearing in Protools IO and Hardware, however still no audio coming in.

Is there some sort of routing that has to happen in DADman for this to work or would you imagine this should work?

On a side note, what I meant about DADman recognizing the Lynx - when I first connected it I could see it as Digilink 2 - could see audio signal coming in, audio arriving at Protools - but - clock syncing issues as the Lynx clock source would always flip back to INT. Updated the firmware on the Lynx and since then it did not appear in Digilink 2 in DADman nor any audio arriving at Protools since.

Thanks again
Scott

You have the Lynx set up as 16x16 right?.. it can't do 2x(8x8x8) on an expansion port.

Why do you want to run this off an expansion port to start with?

Direct connect it to your HDX card second port, no MTRX Studio connected. Does it show up in Pro Tools in Setup>Hardware as a 16x16 or 2x(8x8x8) HD IO?

Add the MTRX Studio to the other port. Does the Lynx still show up as the same HD I/O as before... if so everything digilink is working fine.

What exact sync are you trying to use? Did Lynx ever get this stuff working without their box needing to be the sync master?

There are lots of details here you need to get on top of. Just 'coz you have got two boxes with Digilink ports you can't just bung 'em together and hope they just "work".
