ive built my own one for about $400 using 6 * 600mm by 2400mm boards hinged together. The inside has acoustic foam and carpet and the outside has carpet and underlay. I have about 5cm gap at the top to the ceiling and i have another foam batt that wedges in between my booth and the ceiling. It is sound proof and you can adjust the angles and shape of the booth. I can open it right up, close it right up, partially open it etc. It really cost bugger all and it looks pretty cool. Its also gonna be easy to move if i need to move it as it folds up. I can send pix if you want. I paid 60 (aus$) for the 3 boards which were 2400mm * 1200mm and had them cut for about $2 at a home depot place here in oz where i bought them. This gave me 6 boards @ 600mm * 2400mm. Bought $20 worth of hinges and screwed all the hinges on attaching all the boards together. After this i scrounged some carpet as i recycle it for a job. I paid about $300 for acoustic foam and did the inside of the booth with this. cheap as chips!!

It looks like the main components are Ozite (heavy duty black carpet) and particleboard (MDF). 15K will buy a awful lot of particle board, black carpet and Aurolex.

Where do i send pic to?
This system of mine works well and is easy to dismantle if need be. it also looks fine and is compact and expandable making it versatile.
I live with my girlfriends parents so im in the same boat which is why i made it.

Would be great if you could put up the pictures here for all of us to see.

I am starting to build over here next couple of weeks,
and I would love to see how you did it.

Thanks

http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/index.php Here is a board that is all about studio design. They can def help out for something like this. Also the there are some books you can pick up on the subject. Essentially the most important part to "sound proofing" (btw sound treatment is an entirely different subject), is it needs to be as air tight as possible, and you'll need a gap between the walls to eliminate, or reduce, the transmission of vibrations through the walls.
