Default PT EX Crossgrade Or Upgrade to 11?

Ok, since there is only apparently a few days to upgrade old versions of PT. This may seem like a dumb question given the options, but which option do I need to choose for Pro Tools Express?

Crossgrade?
Or
Upgrade? --> Because Pro Tools Express is (10.3.3)

From what I've read you have to uninstall the version you've got anyway.
Is it the same download file (full PT 11) ?
If so, why have the 2 options?

(god! I hope my hardware still works if I do this!)

*Avid, even buying from you is confusing. Your website gives me a headache.

I just bought the the "Crossgrade" which updates you to Pro Tools 11 which answered my question my own question. Now I can't download it. Support phone# +1 650-237-1700 is an answering machine. Nice. My product didn't come with a "System ID" number nor was one emailed to me when upgrading like avid supposedly says it does. The 1-888# requires one just to talk to them. The instruction link on their website to get a System ID is broken.
This company totally sucks!

If you are able to login to your Avid account where the downloads would be in "Your Products", but are not able to download from your account:

Please see the following KB article which describes the problem and includes solutions:

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...en-downloading

I was working with another customer this weekend that was able to get into the Avid store, but unable to see a button to continue during the upgrade process. Changing from IE to Google Chrome worked for them.

But I would try a different web browser if you can to see if that works any better for you.

Thanks for the reply. But I figured it out. I had to use explorer to download. Having java for firefox doesn't work. (shocker)
Still don't have a System Id.. Not sure I care. Now I need a beer.

Just some suggestions for avids website:

As a new user and a noob/musician when it comes to music recording software, I think "Simplicity" is the key of getting new user satisfaction, return customers, cutting customer issues calling in half, more sales, and a good reputation. A company's website "ease of use" is # 1 in the process. Musicians want to record. Not spend hours and days just trying to get up and running. Short answers, with less technicality is better than long technical explanations that provide little real help. For instance:

If the "support" page went directly to a link page:

Pro Tools Installation Issues
. ---> linked to the install VIDEO (BAM- DONE! less frantic phone calls)

Download Issues ---> Use "Explorer on our Website" ect..

Error Messages And Fixes --->

I think a little organization goes a long way. Links here, there, everywhere, is a waste of time and extremely frustrating for new customers. That being said, the software has been surprisingly nice.

Thanks for reading the rant.. lol Beer time.
