seeking ideas, headphones in studio
hi, seeking recommendations for good, rugged, headphones that can hold up in a studio enviroment and not bleed sound excessively during overdubbing. Not looking for phones that can reproduce D.C to light, just some good phones for musicians to use and abuse which don't cost an arm and a leg, yet do the job. thanks in advance!

Re: seeking ideas, headphones in studio
My vote, and probably many others, are for the Sony MDR-7506. They're virtually standard issue in studios, sell for around $99, and I've never had any bleed problems.

Re: seeking ideas, headphones in studio
I own the 7506's good phones, but i personally recommend the Sony V900's (I believe they're the newer version of the V600's). Larger more comfortable ear pads. If you want to go used, check out ebay, I saw lots of ads for used V600's going for $40 pair or so. . .

Re: seeking ideas, headphones in studio
I regard Sennheiser HD 25-1s as the best headphones ever made. Closed design ( extra insulating ), enough SPL, GREAT sound, light wearing. Should be around 200 bucks. Another good one is AKG 270 S, or if you can live with semi-open design AKG K240Fs...

Hi!
I also use the Sony MDR-7506 and I´m very pleased. The DT100 are good for drummers... Markus

Re: seeking ideas, headphones in studio
I like the Beyer DT 100s as you can easily and cheaply replace earpads, cables, etc when they become worn out with use. Also they are available in several different impedences so you can chain several high impedence ones to one amp without problems.
I've used them for many years without probs, and they do the job. Sound quality seems adequate. Bill.

Re: seeking ideas, headphones in studio
'though I own and love my DT100s for my mainly guitar/vocal type of stuff, I must admit that when working on mixes with more bass, it seems to disappear - kind of like the same sound as NS10s without subs, but in headphones- if you catch my drift.
