dub-style delay
i'm trying to get the feedback-type of delay (the kind used often in dub/reggae)---hard to descibe, but it's the type that keeps feeding back on itself to the point of almost white noise wash--i have Waves Gold, but i cant seem to get the sound i'm looking for
can anyone suggest some good AS/RTAS delays for this?(or a delay that's just cool as fu#@?)--can anyone give me any pointers on how to achieve this? dig002r ptle6.7 waves gold ALLENSTIEN HOME BUILT inclu. asus k8v-se AMD 3200 2x512 ram 2x80G drives radeon vidcard |

Re: dub-style delay
I know exactly what your talking about. I have achieved this with a fist generation KAOS pad on one of the delay settings between #20 and 30.

Re: dub-style delay
I’d be interested to hear if it can be done with plug in’s but outboard has worked for me.
I’ll try and dig that article up… |

Re: dub-style delay
It can be done with a Digirack delay and a LPF (or you can use the filter in the the delay plug-in). Anyway, I'd set the delay feedback to "0," but send from the delay aux channel to itself. That's right . . . send from the delay aux channel to itself. Adjust send gain as needed and/or automate. The LPF is simply used to dampen the highs and give the delayed signal that "tape" effect. The more it loops through, the darker it will sound and the more feedback it will produce.
One note - this works BUT I've crashed my computer doing it before. Just be warned. If you have a lot going on, this little trick will eat what memory you have left and then some. I'd backup your session before trying it. It does work. BTW - I got that trick from Charles Dye's articles in the Digizine. Do a search of past issues. rockrev

Re: dub-style delay
check out the tape delay here, its VST though - I use it for dub and its pretty good at mimicking a tape based delay - pretty good for a free plugin...
