Default Capturing Audio & Video w/ DC 30 + (Audio Sync Problem)

Does anyone capture audio and video with their dc 30 + card to play movies with protools. If so, do you experience the audio being out of sync with the picture?

I use a 30 not a +, but I have no probs. Are you using Premiere? There is a setting, Movie Capture - Record Settings - Conform movie to ___. Must be set to 29.97. Hope this helps. If not explain your software settings etc.

I'm using an Aurora Fuse Card with Premiere v4.2.1 (I think). Once you Conform Movie (as the previous reply mentioned), it slams back into sync.

BTW, has anyone figured out how to properly conform a movie in Premiere v5.1 (full version)?

I use 4.2.1 also. I see no need to change, but isn't the process the same?

Hi,

I have the same question about conforming in Premier 5.1. We never had any releases before 5.1 so can't seem to find the conform movie-button. Does somebody know how it works? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

I have tried to capture movies with Premiere 5.1, and can't get them to sync up in Protools-they always drift. The conform movie function doesn't seem to exist. I have spoken with other users regarding this issue, and they have all given up on Premiere 5.1. Stay with Premiere 4.21, and you'll have no problems.

Anyone tried any other capture software??

Bob

I just got the word for Premiere 5.1. Somewhere in the read me doc are about two sentences that talk about creating and ini file that will force the movie to conform to 29.97. I have 5.0 and the upgrade to 5.1 so I may not have this, but somebody else take a look and post the info if I don't find it first.

Here it is cut and pasted from the doc:

If you have problems with duplicate or misordered frames, you can use
a setting in the Prem50.ini file to enable Auto-conforming. A copy of the Prem50.ini file has been included for you to use as a template. You can find this file in the Setting folder, located in the Adobe Technical Info folder on the Premiere Application CD. Because this file is locked, you will not be able to edit it even if you drag it to your hard drive.

1. In the Premiere folder, open the file Prem50.ini if it exists. If the file does not exist, open SimpleText and create a new empty text file named Prem50.ini.
2. Add the following text to the file (case is important, so add the text exactly as shown).

[parsecodec]
PGVV=1

3. Save the file into the Premiere application folder and restart Premiere.

Someone w/ Prem 5.1 try this and report back!

I haven't found a solution yet. The info from the read me file pertains to a different capture card. Seems like the audio is alwyas a bit out of sync with the DC30 +
