Default Restoring DATa backups

Anyone know how to restore ProTools sessions archived on Digi's old DATa utility that backed up tracks by interleaving them on a DAT tape?

It's been a long time...but I think it was only Sound Designer files, not Pro Tools sessions that could be archived. You'll need the DATa application and maybe Sound Designer app as well. I actually might have these laying around on floppies...

You can get the DATa app from here:
http://www.digidesign.com/download/legacy/data/

(sorry, I'm not a tech and I don't remember how it works)

I recall using DATa with my AM3 card and the spidf ins and outs on my DAT recorder. I think it was only for SD2 files, I saved the session file separately on some other media. DATa was an OS9 program. DATa was a good little program although it ran in real
time. I still have my AM3 card if you're interested.

I know DATa would backup Pro Tools sessions. I can't remember why I can't specifically restore them. I started with the original four track Pro Tools with echo and stuff and have upgraded continually to the present. It is upsetting to find that upgraded hardware and software inherently destroys your ability to retrieve backups of both Digidesign and Apple products. The audio in a DATa backup follows some intial computer tones and is then followed by closing tones. These tones are very loud. I did have to recall some audio in the past. I had to guess "where" the sound occurred and on what track. It was very difficult and time consuming. Unless all the tracks started at "0" it is probably not worth your time. I can't remember what kept me from being able to do it right. Was it the Pro Tools cards, the operating system, the interface or the computer....? Can't remember. I am now suffering from not being able to use Masterlist CD.
I guess the constructive thing I can say is "I am sure you could backup Pro Tools multitrack files.
