Pro Tools freezing up when importing audio

I have an Intel based iMac with Version 10.4.11 OSX and a Mbox 2 with Pro Tools LE version 7.3.1 . Almost every time I try to import audio, Pro Tools stops responding. I have already downloaded the utility program that erases the Prefrences but that only works to get Pro Tools running again. Is there a patch to download to fix this problem?
