Reaper 4 in Protools Help..
I have tried several things to get the Rewire instrument to show. I even installed the Rewire 1.7 applet with no luck. I want to use Reaper 4. Was almost tempted to try Logic 9, but wanted to give Reaper a try first.

Re: Reaper 4 in Protools Help..
I want to add a little more. I have used Reaper in Protools before, so I know to create an instrument track with the Rewire plugin then assign Reaper. After one of the Protools updates I can't see the Rewire plugin anymore. Also I am using the Reaper 32bit application.

Re: Reaper 4 in Protools Help..
Tell us which update so we can avoid it! Did it work in 9.03?

Re: Reaper 4 in Protools Help..
It was version 9.0. I went from 9.0 to 9.05 to 9.06 and now it doesn't work. I'm sure there is something simple I am not doing.

Re: Reaper 4 in Protools Help..
Is the Reaper plugin in the DAE Plug-ins folder?
You may need to reinstall Reaper. |

Re: Reaper 4 in Protools Help..
Lion or Sno Leo? Recollect something about the Gold Master Lion install fails to install the latest version of Python correctly. Did you clone or reinstall your OS?
Anyway Cockos posted a workaround to use an earlier version of Python for Reaper 4. Not certain how or what code is used for rewire, but Reaper would run on Lion if you disable the more recent Python buggy install. So are you on Lion? But since you had it working, unless this was a workaround for x64 version of REAPER and you're running it in 32 (x86), it may or may not have any relevance. If it's not something simple as you thought, as in the reinstall of Reaper 4, did you follow the Cockos workaround for Lion? Can I ask, did you find Kontack 4 too be too error prone or CPU intensive? (sorry to get OT)... but you're needing more CPU power to run Vis correct via Reaper slave? |

You want to turn off auto updates in Lion, stay at 10.7.1 w. PT 9.05 most stable as reported here by others! You meant Python right. Didn't 10.7.1 fix that, no longer mentioned at the Reaper site for compatibility with Gold Master Lion 10.7 I can't find it now at the Cockos Site, so Apple's 10.7.1 update most likely fixed the Python install problem. But now there is a problem with Perl (arrg) Reaper developers have disabled it temporarily. Komplete instruments not working so well at moment in Reaper 4.14: Reaktor, FM8 http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=35196 Is Kontack 5 working ok? Did you find you had to up from 4 (to Komplete 8)? or not relevant? You didn't mention just assuming since you're on an i7 you are running Lion. You meant Python right, not Java as in earlier post? Sucks to be on the bleeding edge doesn't it. That's why studios are still running 7.4 |

Re: Reaper 4 in Protools Help..
I decided to go with Logic 9 and I LOVE it for music creation (i.e. mostly VIs and some audio). The integration between M-Audio ProjectMix I/O is by far the best I've seen between Cubase, Protools and Logic.
I will use Protools for mixing or when I get a project from others who require me to lay a keyboard track and are using Protools. I'm taking a best of breed approach. One application does not have to do it all and typically does not do it all well. Thanks for everyone's help. DUC is awesome. |
