Default 12.6.1 ready for prime time now?

Hi,

so is this new version good to go for us post-people now? I read crazy things about people having to install the video engine from older PT versions manually with some hacking tricks in order to work.

Is this still the case with 12.6.1?

Glad to read that the un-solo bug has finally been fixed. Is the "random busses stop playing" issue on HDX fixed too?

I'm still on the side lines with 11.3.2 which works just fine but find the clip-EQ tempting but didn't want to upgrade unless the video engine is rock solid (or at least as solid as 11.3.2 is)

Any info appreciated.

Frank

Video engine pretty solid here in AJA territory on 12.6.1

In limited testing video engine feels good on Blackmagic card and drivers. Pushed it for several hours yesterday "walking foley" from Kontakt and the Complete Foley Collection of MIDI triggered foley samples, and it was trouble-free.

Hm, OK.

Only recently people said 12.6 had huge video issues and some even manually combined 12.4's video engine with 12.6

http://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=2394270&postcount=25

So did they fix this in 12.6.1? I didn't see anything about it in the release notes.

On our last mix on 12.5.x we had massive problems with stuttering picture from a Satellite running an TB AJA card. Had to be "kicked" and restarted many times every day.

So I'm still kind of hesitant...

thanks again.

F.

I have had zero video issues on 12.6/12.6.1 for about a month.

12.6.1 is better than 12.6, but still has it's quirks...

Clip effects still randomly stop working (they play back, but you can't change them) so they are not a reason to upgrade until they work right. It's the most stable version of 12 so far IMHO.

Thank you, that helps. "Clip effects stop working randomly and can't be changed" sounds like I'll stick to watching from the side lines a bit longer. That was the main reason to make the jump.

I can't speak for 12.6.1 yet but clip effects on 12.6 are very unreliable. There is a thread in the 12 forum about it.

Same here on 12.6.1 Clip Effects still buggy. Here is idea scale about it:

EUCON support for Clip Effects would be nice too!

Ok, and precisely about the video problem.
Is it ok with BM cards without changing the video engine from 12.4 ?

i'm working with intensity pro 10.4.1 and protools 12.4 happily, except that sometimes video is beginning to stutter after 20minutes of continuous play.

If they change again the video engine, that concern may be adressed.

I can answer...

With BM driver 10.4.3 and Ptools 12.6.1,everything work fine here
Sync is ok,dnxhd ok,no stutter,no video error, old session opened ok

However, we should not cry victory too soon, only 2 days of works with it...

I'm on maverick, sound editor on a long movie at 24fps

My advice, make a clone of your system before ...
