digi 6.7
how do i love thee...let me count the ways. . . the screen draw oddities the blue scroll bar disappearing parameters changing without my command. lots of weird stuff don't your guys test this stuff first before we upgrade can they use the gear in REAL working situations or do you charge us to be your test base? hard to figure why we should have to pay for that if we are doing the field testing for you. i need a vioxx ....orally.

Re: 6.7 Ready for Prime Timeżżż
6.7 to my opinion is pretty "dangerous" release as there are many new features that required re-coding that "broke" features and functionality.
For studios when time/clients is very imporant 6.4 would still be the best release. About bugs: I guess Digidesign do intensive testing however, They have also timeframe. This is a catch as when you release a product people say: "Hey, why didn't you test this product" But when it's in testing you hear people: "Hey why don't you get the release out already, what's going?" So it's very hard and sadly most products with new features/changes in the first release can be problomatic. Eg. PT6 (6.1 on PC) - only 6.4 seems to be reliable on both platforms and still not like mature 5.3. Apple's first MDD G4s, G5, Powerbooks all had some issues with the first gen. Nuendo/Cubase still got some bugs...

Re: 6.7 Ready for Prime Timeżżż
I don't know what you guys are talking about. I haven't experienced ANY of the problems that you're reporting. Been running rock-solid without a single sputter for 2 weeks now (knock on wood).

What plugins do you have installed? What plugins do you use? What plugin versions? Do you midi? Do you midi with multiple channels per device? Do you use midi program changes? What MIDi interface? Do you use external firewire drives? SATA? What OS? What CPU? What kind of track count? Do you export session as... ? What sample rate are you working at? I suggest all of us add our system specs to our user profile/bio... so when someone says, "i'm not having any problem" - we can look and see what hardware and software config they have, and compare. I just updated mine. jr PS- Hey Digi Webmaster - can you allow longer bios than 250 characters?

I get Logic 7 to crash too! You just have to wait for perfection.

Re: 6.7 Ready for Prime Timeżżż
I'm not having any of the problems either. However, I don't do a lot of midi.
I have tons of audio tracks, using OWC external firewire drives (at the present time 9 of them), and I also have 2 scsi drives hooked up. I'm using Reason, MOTU Fastlane midi device for my keyboard. I'm using 6.7 HD3 accel on a G4 dual 1 ghz. (I love this computer) One session has 112 tracks @ 24/44.1 (set for 128) Another session is 66 tracks @ 88.2 PT did crash one time in the last 2 weeks. But so did Toast Jam (it froze twice) Rob

Re: 6.7 Ready for Prime Timeżżż
6.7.1 is solid here. HD|2 with 192 interface (x2).
Quote:
Plug-ins include McDSP, Waves, Sony, SoundToys, Cranesong. Soft-synths include Spectrasonics, Indigo, Reason, Live, Native Instruments, etc. All plugs are the lastest version, except for Waves, which is still 4.x. MIDI all day long with multiple channels per device, but not sending program change messages. MIDI interface is MOTU MTP AV. External FW drives for backup storage and soft-synth library storage only. SCSI drives. OS is 10.3.4, on a G4 800mHZ "Quicksilver" dual-proc. Large track counts. Don't usually need to export session, but "save session copy as..." frequently. Working at 24/48k. Regarding virtual instruments: I also have the problems noted in other posts regarding NI's B4 plug-in - graphics gone haywire (this wasn't an issue in earlier versions of PT). Oddly enough, the demo version of B4 works just fine. LT |

Re: 6.7 Ready for Prime Timeżżż
Yeah, I've been reading these posts since upgrading to 6.7and I'll have to agree the with the last few posters in that I've not had any "significant" issues, although I do notice the odd screen redraw when opening a session(minor bug). Actually, I'm running a G4 Dual 1Ghz MDD with an HD3(not Accel) system under Mac OS 10.3.6 and have noticed overall improved system behavior with my setup. Launching PT is even faster than before. I'm sure the bugs are being looked into and updates will be on the way.
