Because the mixer would no longer fit on any display properly. It would be a complete drag to have to keep mousing up and down all the time in order to jump between inserts and faders.

Then hide them. Pro Tools could start as default showing only 10 inserts, then you can add another layer in set's of 5 (or even 1 line at a time).

People, this is an option. Is it really that hard to include. Look at all the CPU power we have today? in the year 2000, I had a 667Mhz computer doing 5 plugins in Pro Tools, so in 2016 on my 12-core, 50+Ghz (50,000Mhz - that's 74 times more power) computer today, why is Pro Tools HDX only capable of 10?????

How does this add up Avid?
Year 2000, 667 Mhz = 5 Plugins
Year 2016, 50,000+ Mhz = 10 Plugins?

What is wrong with having the option? It is an option. It's not forced onto people. You can stilll daisy-chain tracks together if that's what you want to do, but what about other people that would like all the plugins going down in 1 track, 1 section?

Because nobody wants it except you?

I'm sure that suits some people. I used to do some work at a small studio that had a Focusrite Control 24 and to be honest I absolutely detested it. I invariably ended up going back to the mouse time and time again. I'm sure modern ones are much better.

Computers aren't the only dynamically advancing thing in the digital world. The software and the algorithms have advanced as well. Liquidsonics reverberate 2 chews up 8% of CPU power on my 8 core mac when running just one stereo fusion impulse response. One instance probably would have ground my system to a halt back in the year 2000.

Gratuitously increasing the number of plugin and send slots 'just because' is a waste of man power if you ask me.To drag the options into perspective - Say the average protools user has 100 plugins. 5 plugin slots give you a possible of 900 MILLION plugin combinations on one channel without ever using the same plugin twice.

10 slots? If my math is correct, and you have 100 plugins in your plugin menu... you have 1.4 Quadrillion possible combinations of plugins you can run on any 1 channel. Are you really suggesting that you find these options limiting????

It took some 6 years to get the track freeze feature into protools from ideascale. There are a 1000 other things I want to see in protools, like higher I/O counts in Vanilla for example. I have no objection with 20 sends or 20 plugins making it into protools... it belongs on the 'Just because we can' list if you ask me, and that won't be addressed for about 70 years or so I suspect.

What the hell would you possibly do with 20 inserts that you can't achieve with 10 besides having less available CPU???

By the way, you can have your 20+ inserts by running your audio through multiple aux tracks.

I could understand "unlimited" sends, but "unlimited" inserts beats me.

I grew up with having at best eq and comp on every channel, then some extra processing on some tracks (a.k.a. analog inserts) and most special stuff done on auxes or groups.

I cannot even imagine using 20 inserts, but it may be my bad

I couldn't agree more....and in fact this has been a requested feature for several years now.

But with 2016 and track freeze right around the corner....this might be my most requested feature that I would like to see in PT 12.5

EDIT - This and Track Presets brought to the front door.....

Why stop with 20, how about 50? why not 100? 20 is sooooo limiting......{Enter Sarcasm here}
