Default DIGI: Help: Project Samplerate suddenly changed!

This is the weirdest thing I`ve ever seen.

I`m recording a large (40++ track) project with a band in LE7.1 on my G5. everything is just peaches. The project is 24bt / 44100khz. When we finished last night, I bounced the project to a 24bit/48khz wav file (cause the mastering engineer wants 48 instead of 44.1 k, and told me to just convert it up when bouncing..) ANYWAYS, after bouncing, I listened to the wav file, and the song seemed to go faster than it was supposed to (when playing it in quicktime..) but this is not the weird part. The weird part is: When i opened the project today, the project had magically changed to a 48k session. only trouble is, the audio files are of course still 44.1, so now everything is going faster than it is supposed to go. I had to import all the audio to a new 44.1k session to continue working with the project without it turning into a Smurf-song. So now I wnat to know:

How could the project just CHANGE samplerate?

Anybody else experience anything like this?

What about clock setting to external, instead of internal? If it is set to external, and the Master clock changes, then it changes your PT session without you doing anything inside your session (becasue the clock is set externally).
