Analog or S/PDIF ?
Hey
I'm connecting a MAC and a PC to work simultaniously. My question on this post is, for recording stuff from one to another, just I have the computers connected with analog 1/4" or via S/PDIF ? I have a couple of soft synth that I play on my PC, and want to record them on my MAC. Right know I have 1/4" out on PC and 1/4" In on mac. But I get a little huumm noise. Will S/PDIF correct this ? Can I get the same phat sound with it ?? |

Re: Analog or S/PDIF ?
Use SPDIF whenever you can to remain in the digital domain. Yes you should eliminate the hum at the same time since it is a digital signal. Also, plug everything into the same wall plug to avoid ground loops.
I hope you are not thinking of using the PC or MAC's sound card as one of your sources. You'd be better off sending the MIDI notes to your M-Powered hardware and letting them be processed in PT-MP. |
