Opinions on O2R96,O1V96, DM2000 as Controller?

Opinions on O2R96,O1V96,DM1000/2000asController?
I need a controler, more inputs (via AES) & control room/studio monitoring volume control. Any opinions? Tascam DM24 also.

I have the 01V96 configured as a controller. I initially had problems with communication loss, but it mysteriously went away. I'm sure it will mysteriously come back, then go away again some day.

The one issue I have with 01V96 is that it won't play nice with my Edirol when both are set up as USB midi devices. I've also used the DM-24 which worked perfectly, but I seem to remember having some difficulty punching in timecode on the Tascam and having ProTools LE move to that time -something I rarely do.

Nice thing about the Tascam was the transport section and having a full time SMPTE display on the meter bridge. I miss the meter bridge,so I'll probably get a yamaha DM1000 for home.

I do use a DM-2000 also as a controller for PT. Works not only perfect - its great!!! Did not have a single problem since i have the console (i got one of the first ones). But i can only speak of OS 9.22, PT 5.31 (well, 5.31 might be wrong - anyway - the last version before 6...) - but i am pretty shure it also works fine under OS X, PT 6... (for OS X there is only a beta-driver ready - but beta means something quite good and stable at Yamaha).
For me it is quite good to have both automations at once (each have some advantages) in a session/mix.
I just hate the plug-in automation - for example the Q-factor of a EQ is sometimes on that knob and sometimes on another - if you use different plug-ins - but thats true for all controllers... and not a fault of the DM-2000

I recently invested in a Pro Tools|HD 2 Accel system along with two 96 I/O audio interfaces, a MIDI I/O and a PRE. I have a Yamaha O1V96 (version 1) which I would like to use with the PT|HD2. I would really appreciate if someone could help me how to configure it and what kind of advantages/disadvantages would I have.

We have a DM2000 in our small room. Works great as a controller with protools. The AES connections are pretty good but we have had one slot die on us 3 different times. That makes for a hard time connecting to the machine room to do laybacks digitally. Other than that the controller works great and with a master clock source the console can sound good.

I have just bought an 02R96 V2. Great board, a big leap from the 02rV2. Preferred using 48 channels of adat lite pipe from a Mix Plus Cubed system and mixing OTB.

Maybe a bit OT, but I'm trying to record the surround-panner data of my 01V96 a sysex into Protools: anyone got that working? I can record it, but with playback, it get's...uhm...translated in fader-data: the L/R faders go up & down like crazy, but the surround-pan stays put...
