Default PT9 Downgrade Back to PT8 LE

Is it possible to downgrade from PT9 back to PT8 LE, and how will this affect the iLok license? I'm new to all this.

I want to buy the crossgrade before it goes away, but I'm not sure that my current machine will run PT9. So, I want to be able to revert to PT 8 and continue working with it until I buy a new laptop.

Will it this approach mess up my iLock license in anyway when I go to install PT9 on my new machine?

Why is it that people forget that PT8 needn't an iLok license?

You can still use PT8 with your LE interface without having to do anything to your PT9 license.

Recent Dverb tests show PT9 NOT to use significant resource beyond that of PT8.

Thank you Shane.

Indeed.

My system actually showed an improvement with PT9.

Thanks for all the feedback.

I know that the PT 8 LE key is embedded in the HW, but wasn't sure how strict Avid is about multiple installs/uninstalls. In the past, I have used these "Nazi" programs (probably being a bit harsh) that won't let you revert (or at least make it very difficult to) once you upgrade. They put something in the registry. Didn't want to waste my money by inadvertantly doing something silly. Would rather ask. Gonna go order PT 9 now.

It's always better to start with a fresh OS drive and keep the former version intact. At least until you are solid. At the very least, keep an image of your current drive.
