Default Still need to toggle Bluetooth to launch PT

Just upgraded from 8.0.3PR to the new 8.0.3 Release and was unpleasantly surprised to find the same hang up exists.

When launching PT, it either hangs on the last plugin to be loaded, or the start of loading audio files. The fix is to turn Bluetooth either on or off at this point of the loading process depending it's current position. PT then loads normally.

UPDATE

This also affects other audio apps like iTunes, Garageband etc. AFTER you quit ProTools, toggle Bluetooth to the opposite position of it's current state, BEFORE you launch another AUDIO app, like iTunes, GarageBand etc.

This happens every single time at launch, and the Console doesn't reveal anything that could be causing this. Tried all of the usual documented troubleshooting tips to no avail.

By the way, this only happens on my new 27" iMac Quad-Core, it launches fine on my Macbook Unibody.

Thanks for the response Digi, I thought I was alone on this one.

Let me know if you need any more info regarding this issue. I have lots of Console log files.

Default Quad Core iMac?

Anyone getting PT LE 8.0.3 to work on a new 2.66 quad core imac? I've installed it multiple times with OS 10.6.2 and an Mobx2. PT Boots up all the way, the edit window opens and then it beachballs. Taken out all the plugins, thrown away prefs, repaired permissions, yadda yadda yadda. One interesting thing is that in the permissions folder, there's DAE prefs and digisetup, but no PT prefs, as if PT crashes as it's creating prefs?

It's a brand new machine-- no software other than the system install disk. Replaced the internal HD and added 4 more GB of RAM. Anyone have any success stories? I need to get a home rig up and running for the holidays, and I'm thinking about returning this thing for a dual processor. Thanks in advance.

Have you repaired disk permissions?

That's what came to mind when you said it crashes while trying to create a plist file..

Yes.

I might add, too, that we installed it once from the PT8 DVD, which didn't work, then installed 8.0.3 by itself with the DVD in the slot as instructed on the Digi website.

Did you do a clean uninstall between installations?

I have my doubts that it would have anything to do with the hardware (quad iMac)

We reformatted internal drive, then did a clean system install, then reinstalled pt. Doing it again now, one last time, before deciding to return the machine.

Would love to know if anyone out there is successfully running PT LE on a new 27" quad iMac

Do you have Bluetooth enabled? If so - try disabling it and let us know if that fixes the problem, as we've got a couple other reports of this and need to determine if it's an Apple or Digi problem...

Yes I have it running on my 27" with the the above stated bluetooth issue.

So what you need to do is when PT launches, it will eventually hang on either the last plug-in, or the start of loading audio files. When this happens, turn bluetooth either on or off depending on it's current setting and PT will launch. Sounds weird I know, but it works.

I might post some video of this later today as it's hard to explain.

Hope this helps
