open 6.4 project

is it possible to open a 6.4 project in protools 8?

ok how? i cant load the project from school at home, it dont recognise the file as a protools file. must i save in a special way?

How did you transfer the file from your school system to your home system?

Does the file have it's proper extension?

Are you moving from one OS to another? (like from a Mac to a PC). If so, you need to save(on the 6.4 system) with Enforce PC/Mac Compatibility checked(since PT7, this is automatic). An alternate method would be to consolidate all the audio in the 6.4 version(on the original platform) and then export the audio files, which can be imported to a new PT session on any platform.

I just dragged the whole map over to my usb stick. Yes I'm moving from mac to pc, I will try that enforce PC/Mac, thanks.
The file didnt end with .ptf when I renamed the file, I got the message: the document could not be opened because it was created with an older version.
